Premiering next month at NewFest:
The New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual Film Festival,
and followed by screenings at the San Francisco and Los Angeles
LGBT International Film Festivals, WOMEN IN LOVE chronicles the
history of a circle of friends who, as a generation of young lesbians
coming of age in San Francisco during the 1980’s, helped to
redefine sexuality and relationships on their own terms. Now as
the group approaches midlife, their curiosity and desire to explore
a new universe of partnerships and intimacy leads them to pioneer
their own set of family values.
Award wining filmmaker Karen Everett, whose previous films, I
SHALL NOT BE REMOVED: THE LIFE OF MARLON RIGGS and FRAMING
LESBIAN FASHION, have been broadcast on PBS and screened at
festivals around the world, this time turns the camera on her own
love life and a remarkable community of cultural renegades and sexual
radicals. This riveting documentary explores one woman's journey
through fifteen years of friendship and love. Featuring Jackie Strano
and Shar Rednour, leading directors of lesbian pornography, and
Phyllis Christopher, one of North America's foremost photographers
of lesbian erotica, Everett uses home videos, candid interviews
and video diaries to ponder timeless questions about the nature
of romantic relationships, monogamy, and polyamory.
