OUTCAST FILMS ANNOUNCES
THE RELEASE OF THE NEW DOCUMENTARY
PILLS PROFITS PROTEST:
CHRONICLE OF THE GLOBAL AIDS MOVEMENT

8,500 people die of AIDS everyday in spite of the fact that lifesaving medication for the disease does exist. PILLS PROFITS PROTEST is an up-to-the minute documentary about global AIDS activism and the demand for universal access to affordable treatment for the 40 million people, around the world, living with HIV.

Traveling through Africa, Brazil, India, and the United States, this documentary connects the dots between communities in need of HIV medicines, the activists fighting for their cause, and the governments and multinational drug industries whose greed prevents the accessibility of such treatments. By closely examining the AIDS epidemic through a human rights lens, PILLS PROFITS PROTEST presents the public with a clear look at the facts surrounding the on-going struggle for the availability of HIV therapy, and serves as an excellent tool for mobilizing grass-roots activists concerned with public health and the fight for social justice.

Newly launched Outcast Films is a distribution and production company dedicated to the fair and equal representation of media made by and concerning the diverse LGBT community. Outreaching to thousands of educators, activists, policy makers and breakers, media arts institutions, and individual viewers, Outcast Films helps to foster critical discussions around social justice issues, as well as providing the public with a resource of cutting edge films and videos created by and impacting the LGBT community.

Other works available through Outcast Films include Jim DeSeve's TYING THE KNOT, the highly acclaimed documentary on same-sex marriage, and Karen Everett’s WOMEN IN LOVE, a sexually charged story about love and friendship.
